2020 Predictions
Some hopes and predictions for the sports I care about in 2020…
Boston Red Sox
The Red Sox are at least competitive this year — second or third in the AL East, possibly in the running for the Wild Card.
They use this rebuilding year to bolster the rotation and bullpen.
Dustin Pedroia announces his retirement before the All Star break to go out on his own terms and give Sox fans a chance to send him off properly.
NASCAR Cup Series
Chase Elliott: wins at least four races this year including one of the Crown Jewel events (Daytona 500, Coca-Cola 600, Brickyard 400, Southern 500, Alabama 500) and makes it into the Final Four of the Chase to compete for the championship at Phoenix.
Ryan Blaney gets at least two wins and finishes the year better than one or both of his Penske teammates.
Matt Dibenedetto runs consistently well in the 21 car, finishing in the top ten at least ten times.
Jimmie Johnson wins at least once during his final full year.
Bubba Wallace continues to improve his consistency, finishing in the top fifteen at least ten times.
The Cup Series Rookie of the Year will be Cole Custer in the Stewart-Hass Racing 41 car.
So…
Will any of these actually happen this year? Will I actually remember to revisit this post in November? I suppose we will see.
